Dr. Barnes has had a very productive and successful career both in family medicine and emergency medicine for over 20 years. He currently serves as an Emergency Physician at Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Georgia (with 7 years as Medical Director) and as a Certified Tactical Physician, Reserve Deputy Sheriff, Chief Medical Officer T.E.M.S. for both Floyd County / Rome S.W.A.T. as well as State S.W.A.T. (Georgia State Patrol) Certified Advanced S.W.A.T. Sniper in what initially began as a recovery project. Dr. Barnes began volunteering time to local law enforcement special ops providing embedded medical support- which has blossomed into a second full time career.
Dr. Barnes received his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in 1992 with a B.S. in Biology and a B.A. in Chemistry. He attended Medical school at Loyola University Chicago Stritch where he graduated with AOA honors. Dr. Barnes completed his residency in Family Medicine, with honors, in Rome Georgia in 1999, followed by private practice at the Harbin Clinic also in Rome, Georgia.
